SCAR
SYMMETRY: ANNOUNCE TRACKLIST, TALK ALBUM TITLE & COVER ART
Swedish progressive melodic death metallers SCAR SYMMETRY just announced
the tracklist of their upcoming masterpiece "Dark Matter Dimensions“:
„Dark Matter Dimensions“
01 - The Iconoclast
02 - The Consciousness Eaters
03 - Noumenon And Phenomenon
04 - Ascension Chamber
05 - Mechanical Soul Cybernetics
06 - Nonhuman Era
07 - Dark Matter Dimensions
08 - Sculpture Void
09 - A Paranthesis In Eternity
10 - Frequencyshifter
11 - Radiant Strain
Exclusive ltd. edition digipak bonus track:
12 - Pariah
The band also commented
on the choice of the album title and its artwork: "The albumtitle came
from the scientific fact that you can’t see at least 95% of the universe
and despite that fact we behave like we know everything there is to know.
We trust our eyes even though they give us a very limited range of perception
and we dismiss things because they seem to defy our narrow and cynical sense
of logic.
The title "Dark Matter Dimensions" stands for an appreciation
and acknowledgement of the unseen worlds and dimensions, because without
the existence of these unseen forces our physical universe would never be
able to exist. These so-called "Dark Matter Dimensions", a term
I use for everything unseen, orchestrates everything our eyes are allowed
to see. And you can bring this down to a personal level aswell, from the
macrocosmic to the microcosmic, and realize that our appearance stands for
a small percentage of who we are. At least 95% of what we are consists of
consciousness, thoughts, feelings and other unseen activities. So the term
"Dark Matter Dimensions" applies on both macrocosmic and microcosmic
levels. As above, so below.
As for the artwork I view at as a peak into a possible dark matter dimension,
a surreal planetary body that defies our sense of what a planet looks like.
Spontaneously I come think of it as a symbolic version of the current state
of the earth.“ - Henrik Ohlsson / SCAR SYMMETRY
The album is set to
be released on October 2

EVILE:
FRONTMAN DISCUSSES MORE LYRICAL THEMES FROM 'INFECTED NATIONS’
MATT DRAKE, frontman for British thrashers EVILE, recently explained some

INFECTED NATIONS sees EVILE offering a more mature, but certainly no less ferocious album, with previously discussed song topics including the state of modern society and science-fiction.
Two new tracks from
the upcoming album, INFECTED NATIONS - "Infected Nation" and "Now
Demolition" - can be heard at EVILE's official MySpace page at www.myspace.com/evileuk

DANKO
JONES: NEVER TOO LOUD
Bad Taste/Riot
Canada’s Danko Jones have never sounded better on disc than here.
The fire and energy that has made them live favourites around the globe
is captured intact here, while subtle production touches
reveal themselves when you crank this up high. From the kick in the guts
opening rock salvo of ‘Code Of The Road’ (the first single)
to the super-charged anthemic title track closer, ‘Never Too Loud’
takes you on a joyride you just don’t want to stop.
The tight take no prisoners rhythm
section of drummer Dan Cornelius and bassist JC (John Calabrese) provides
the perfect foundation for Danko’s signature sizzling guitar work
and howling
at the moon jugular-grabbing vocals. This is a power trio in the classic
sense of the word.

THE
69 EYES: BACK IN BLOOD
Nuclear Blast/Riot
BLOOD IS THE NEW BLACK!
Sharpen your fangs, The Helsinki Vampires are back. And this time, they’re
‘Back In Blood’.
The 69 Eyes return with their ninth studio album, which has been hailed a latter-day ‘Appetite For Destruction’. With blood on their hands and AC/DC on their stereo, the bloodsuckers have combined their past to focus on the future. Once again The 69 Eyes have their finger on the pulse of darkness with 12 goth ‘n’ roll anthems guaranteed to rock the crypt. “Unsurprisingly, the main inspiration for the album came from the vampire realm,” Jyrki explains. “We haven’t made a concept album but nearly all the songs have something to do with the undead or at least horror as a genre.”
The first single will be the tongue-in-cheek ‘Dead Girls Are Easy’ – a nasty power anthem for sleazy pin-ups complete with a sing-a-long chorus aimed at those online chicks with the looks that kill! The video has been directed by MTV superstar and close friend Bam Margera, who was also responsible for the Eyes’ rock homage to ‘80s cult movie ‘The Lost Boys’.
“We’ve worked so hard over the last two years since ‘Angels’ was released,” says Jyrki. “We played around 125 shows worldwide but all our sacrifices paved the way for the birth of this baby. ‘Back In Blood’ is a culmination of 20 years worth of hard work.”
If you want blood, here
you’ve got it!

CAIN’S
OFFERING: GATHER THE FAITHFUL
Frontiers/Riot
Special Notes: Features sticker including script “The New Power Metal
Attraction from Finland! Featuring Jani Liimatainen (ex SONATA ARCTICA,
ALTARIA), Timo Kotipelto (STRATOVARIUS). Mikko Harkin (ex SONATA ARCTICA),
Jukka Koskinen (NORTHER, WINTERSUN) Jani "Hurtsi" Hurula (PAUL
DI’ANNO)”.
Cain's Offering is the brainchild of Finnish guitarist/songwriter Jani Liimatainen (ex-Sonata Arctica, ex-Altaria). Joining Jani, are vocalist Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius, Kotipelto), keyboardist Mikko Harkin (Solution.45, Mehida, ex-Sonata Arctica, ex-Wingdom, ex-Kenziner), bassist Jukka Koskinen (Norther, Wintersun) and drummer Jani "Hurtsi" Hurula (Paul Di'Anno).
Drawing its musical influence from both the classic Hard Rock scene, the fast-paced European power metal and a very modern heavy metal sound, Cain's Offering is, just as expected, a perfect example of today's living and breathing Finnish music scene. Yes, this is a tour-de-force of who's-who in the Finnish heavy metal scene, and yes, this does sound like a wet dream come through for all fans of melodic metal. And guess what - the product exceeds all expectations! Lookout for Cain’s Offering!

OUTLOUD!:
OUTLOUD!
Frontiers/Riot
Features members of Firewind.

Born in 2004 when
guitarist Tony Kash started to take guitar lessons from Bob Katsionis (FIREWIND),
the project soon turned into a real kick-ass rock band with the addition
of Chandler Mogel (TALON) on vocals, Jason Mercury on bass and drummer Mark
Cross (FIREWIND, ex HELLOWEEN, KINGDOM COME).
“Outloud!” is the band’s debut album which was mixed by Tommy Hansen (HELLOWEEN, PRETTY MAIDS etc.) and - just like the album subtitle suggests - rocks the listener to hell and back again! The sound of the band is hot and ready Hard Rock for the masses with a sound that can be described as a mixture of early SKID ROW, mixed to RIOT’s “Fire Down Under”, HURRICANE’s “Over the Edge” and with hints FOREIGNER’s sense of melodies, nothing less!
The record includes the video for “We Run” as a bonus multimedia addition. The album’s release was anticipated by the release of the digital promo single “We Run”.

STRYPER:
MURDER BY PRIDE
Frontiers/Riot
Formed in 1983, Stryper are pioneers in the mainstream popularization of
Christian hard rock and metal music, with overall sales in excess of 8 million
records and one Platinum and two Gold records received for the albums "To
Hell with the Devil" and "In God We Trust". The band released
five studio albums before disbanding in February 1992. Singer Michael Sweet
pursued a solo career, while the other members have kept on working together,
until Stryper came back in the original line up during 2005, releasing the
acclaimed new album entitled "Reborn".
In the past few years singer Michael Sweet started to cooperate with Boston and the result of this is a stunning recording of the classic song "Peace of Mind" on the brand new album "Murder By Pride", which sees none other than Tom Scholz guesting on guitar.
The new album sees the band come back to their roots sound with more guitars and killer vocal hooks. European edition includes one exclusive bonus track !

YNGWIE
MALMSTEEN: THE GENESIS
Rising Force/Riot
In 1978 Yngwie Malmsteen formed a group around Himself as the lead guitarist,
lead vocalist and as the SOLE composer, Song writer / lyricist. At that
time it was called Powerhouse soon thereafter Yngwie Malmsteen named it
Rising and consequently Rising Force.
From the years 1978 - 1983 the line up changed all the time with Yngwie Malmsteen being the only constant throughout. Yngwie Malmsteen also always recorded his music relentlessly to try to improve all the time. In January 1980 Yngwie Malmsteen went into an 8 track studio for a couple of days and put down the first six tracks that you will hear on this album. It was very primitive and mostly live. (Yngwie Malmsteen has since rerecorded the bass)
‘The Genesis’ album has never been released before, and includes Live video footage from that time period.
For fans of: Steve
Vai, Dream Theater, Zakk Wylde, Symphony X, Tony MacAlpine & Rainbow!
THE
OCEAN: FLUXION
Metal Blade/Riot
The eight member German band The Ocean (also sometimes known as The Ocean
Collective) prefers to describe their sound as heavily influenced by a long
and diverse group of surrealists
including artists in contemporary metal and alternative, composers, and
film makers, and further claim that the band works to disassociate themselves
from these influences.
‘FluXion’, the follow up to 2003's ‘Fogdiver’, mixes the layered sonic landscapes and slow building tempos with periods of aggressive metal and hardcore. However, the more interesting and unusual aspect of ‘FluXion’ is the dense orchestral atmosphere that gives much of the album a film score feeling.
In fact, I would say
this combination Rachels by way of Danny Elfman and David Lynch influence
is as strong as the earlier made comparisons, and also better captures the
band’s strengths.
For fans of: Neurosis, Isis, Pelican, Cult of Luna, Don Caballero
& Dysrhythmia
BURNT
BY THE SUN: HEART OF DARKNESS
Relapse/Riot
Burnt By the Sun has returned with the staggering new and final album Heart
of Darkness. Heart of Darkness clearly stands head and shoulders above the
band’s renowned catalogue. Every aspect of this legendary band has
been pushed to the limit: crushing riffs rain down like cement blocks, drums
explode like gunfire and strident vocals howl against a modern dystopian
society that besets us all, echoing the music's sonic sentiment.
Heart of Darkness is both the heaviest Burnt By The Sun record, and stacked with the band's most memorable songs to date such as Inner Darkness, Cardiff Giant, Rust (Primitive Future), and The Great American Dream Machine. Burnt By the Sun saved their best for last.
