Last night we witnessed the first show of the Alice Cooper tour as it makes its way across Australia. To say its one of the tightest rock shows on the circuit right now would be an understatement - Alice is in fine form and you can also tune in to see him chatting away this Thursday morning on the Today Show and again on the 7pm Project and on Sunday he will be on Rove (Aust audiences only)

In other news, I'm sure you are all aware that the one and only Ace Frehley has joined the Riot Family! The Soundwave 2010 line up has been announced and is sure to implode under the weight of our own Meshuggah, Baroness & Whitechapel and for you old school hard rockers out there Ink have been confirmed as a major support for the upcoming October tour from Skid Row

To round out abit of a Hard Rock edition of the Act this week, Gotthard have released another modern rock classic with Need To Believe.

ACE FREHLEY JOINS THE RIOT FAMILY!

Ace Frehley releases first solo album in 20 Years!
Riot Entertainment are extremely proud to announce a licensing deal for the brand new album by ‘Space’ Ace Frehley titled ‘Anomaly’ for Australia.

Ace Frehley is finally ready to add a new exclamation point to his celebrated career. For the first time in nearly 20 years, the legendary Ex-Kiss guitarist has concocted an explosive new solo effort. Flaunting fiery riffs, pristine production by Marty Fredrickson and jaw-dropping craftsmanship, Anomaly, on Frehley’s own Bronx Born Records licensed in Australia by Riot Entertainment, ties together the original KISS axeman’s trailblazing past, present and future.

One of the most beloved personalities in rock ‘n’ roll, Frehley’s the man behind not only KISS’ iconic logo, but the all-time stadium classic ‘New York Groove.’ His supercharged cover of Sweet’s 1975 classic ‘Fox on the Run’ will blow you away, and the record includes several nods to his distinguished career throughout, from the pickup acrobatics of ‘Fractured Quantum’ to the unmistakable signature solo on ‘Outer Space’ and wah-wah scourge of ‘Genghis Khan’
(featuring backing vocals from Meat Loaf’s daughter Pearl Aday).

It should go without saying, but “this album has some heavy, heavy songs,” Frehley promises.

These bands are still around (well, not all), but where has the scene gone? There are plenty of quality bands here, but very few quality line-ups.
We here at Mudd Promotions believe the time has come for Canberra to again sit upon the Headbangers Throne of Oz. Enter Onslaught Of Sound.

As the heading says, 10 bands, all heavy, but all different.

MALEFICE FILM VIDEO FOR “ARCHITECT OF YOUR DEMISE”

Malefice have finished filming a video for Architect Of Your Demise from their Metal Blade debut, Dawn Of Reprisal. The video will be available everywhere soon, but for now fans can see the “making-of” video on their myspace page HERE.

Malefice elaborates: “Although shooting this video nearly killed us, Scott Fulton and Eyesmash managed to make the punishing schedule they set out fun to do. Our last video had a very nice, artsy intro but this time we're making something that’ll kick you in the head from the start. It’s brought the focus back, to show people that haven’t already seen us live what to expect. No nonsense, balls to the wall metal that doesn’t fuck about!”

MNEMIC: PRODUCER FOR NEW ALBUM ANNOUNCED

Mircea Gabriel Eftemie, guitarist and songwriter for Denmark’s MNEMIC, just issued the following update:

“We have chosen our long time friend and producer Tue Madsen (HALFORD, BEHEMOTH, KATAKLYSM, THE HAUNTED), who worked with us on “Mechanical Spin Phenomena” and “The Audio Injected Soul”, as the producer for the new album, “Sons Of The System”. He has been to our rehearsal space and we started talking about the direction and sound for the new music. We gave him half of the demo songs so far and now he is doing his evaluation of the 14 songs we have given him. There are 12 more. So far, the demos are ONLY working titles. The first song that is more or less finished title-wise is “March Of The Tripods”

We are entering the studio in September, and the album will be released in January 2010.”

REVOCATION: POST IN-STUDIO FOOTAGE

REVOCATION have posted the first of a series of brief videos taped during the recording of their forthcoming album Existence Is Futile.

REVOCATION recorded the follow-up to their debut album, Empire Of The Obscene, at Damage Studios in Southbridge, MA with engineer Pete Rutcho.

REVOCATION recently posted the second preview track, “Dismantle The Dictator”, from Existence Is Futile online via the band’s MySpace page: MySpace.com/Revocation, along with “The Brain Scramblers”. Existence Is Futile is set for a October 5 release.

AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE TO RELEASE DOUBLE BRUTAL

The heaviest metal band in the world (by sheer mass) has finished their follow up to Total Brutal - get ready for Double Brutal! Not satisfied with the limitations offered by putting out a single disc album, Ahhnold demanded two full cds full of muscle pumping metal! When asked why they needed two discs and why he thought that was best, he quickly replied, “Two discs made it heavy and brutal enough to crush our enemies, see them driven before us, and to hear the lamentations of their women!!!”

Double Brutal is packed with more “juice” than a professional athlete. Disc one features soon to be classics See You At The Party Richter, and Let Off Some Steam Bennett. Disc two is crammed full of metal covers, complete with Ahhnold’s take on them, including Metallica’s Trapped Under Ice and Killing Is My Business…and Business Is Good by none other than Megadeth.

Austrian Death Machine guitarist, bassist, drummer and vocalist, Tim Lambesis adds: “Most bands sit around in a rehearsal room for a few years to put out a 10 song album and do a tour supporting that release. I've been a busy touring with As I Lay Dying and traveled everywhere this year besides Antarctica, but in the five minutes that I was home between tours I decided to put together a double disc of Ahhnold inspired brutality called Double Brutal. Also, Ed Repka (the legend behind the artwork for Megadeth) did an amazing job on this album cover.”

Double Brutal will be available everywhere on September 29th!
