BEHIND THE SCENES “We wanted to make a big rock record that translates the same excitement
I felt when I heard AC/DC’s Highway to Hell for the first time,
combined with the dark intrigue of Alice Cooper’s Welcome to My
Nightmare,” says Gen of the new release. “We wanted something
that shakes the walls, grabs you by the balls, and scares you a bit in
the process!” From their beginnings as upstart mavericks, to their current status as
veteran iconoclasts, the only boundaries the Genitorturers know are the
boundaries that they shatter. TOUR DATES www.genitorturers.com
Steve has also recently shot a video with Orianthi for their song "Highly
Strung." Check it above! Steve’s label, Favored Nations has started a sub-label called Favored
Nations/Jibboom which will be the division for all things Hard Rock/Metal.
They recently signed L.A. Guns (May 25 release) and the 5 live bonus tracks
sound AMAZING! Fans can expect The Powerless Rise. to be released around April/May with
plans for a headline tour also slated around the same time. The albums foundation was laid back in 2008 when Joey Vera and John Bush
began writing new material for what would become La Raza and the album
was completed in December at Tranzformer Studios in Burbank, CA. The album
was produced by bassist Joey Vera, and engineered by Bryan Carlstrom and
his assistant John Nuss. Recording was mostly done with analog equipment
and the final album mix was delivered on 1 inch tape. This gives La Raza
the most organic sound as possible. You can finally hear the first single, Left Hook From Right Field, on
www.myspace.com/armoredsaint1 To complete the package, the band employed photographer Stephanie Cabral
and Metal Blades own Brian Ames. Joey Vera comments further, Metal Blade
is doing a really cool digi pack package for us. We felt like the city
of Los Angeles is such a big part of our fabric that we wanted to use
that in the design of the artwork. So with the help of our good friend
and photographer Stephanie Cabral and Brian Ames from the Metal Blade
art department, we came up with a really cool package that represents
our band and the music on this record. We also wanted to incorporate a
green action by leaving out the plastic CD tray and using recycled paper.
The result is a classy and poignant package. La Raza will be available everywhere on March 16th Axel Rudi Pell has re-signed a worldwide deal with SPV/Steamhammer. The
label and the artist share a legacy now from 1987 `til today and is still
counting. April 26th will see the arrival of his thirteenth studio offering, The
Crest, a haunting studio album featuring ten brand-new compositions. “Our
fans will get just the kind of songs they have come to know and expect
from me and my band,” says Pell. The Crest was recorded at W:A:T: Studios in Bochum by the tried and tested
line-up consisting of Axel Rudi Pell, American vocalist Johnny Gioeli,
keyboardist Ferdy Doernberg, bassist Volker Krawczak and drummer Mike
Terrana. The album was produced by Axel Rudi Pell , with the engineering
help of Torsten Sickert, and mixed by Charlie Bauerfeind at the Mi Sueno
Studios (Teneriffe) and the Twilight Hall Studios (Grefrath). The majestic
cover artwork was created this time by the english artist Martin McKenna.
ANGEL OF BABYLON: Angel Of Babylon, Stargazers, Your
Love Is Evil, Death Is Just A Feeling, Rat Race, Down In The Dark, Blowing
Out The Flame, Symphony Of Life, Alone I Remember, Promised Land 2, Journey
To Arcadia The concept at the base of both albums is a critique of Christianity
from different philosophical and personal angles. While the songs, art and lyrics of Heliocentric tell the story of the
rise of the heliocentric world view and its effects on Christian belief
from medieval times to Darwin and Dawkins, "Anthropocentric"
challenges the views of creationists and other modern fundamentalists
who still believe that the earth is at the center of the universe. Musically, Heliocentric covers the largest range of dynamics and styles
to date: "There are a few really calm songs with mainly piano and
vocals, as well as some crushing heavy tunes. There is a very special
atmosphere to it that pervades the album", comments guitarist Jonathan
Nido. "Our new vocalist Loic Rossetti has immensely widenened the musical
spectrum of this band and there are some songs on the album that even
those people who have conceived of this band as being unpredictable and
daring would have never imagined", adds Robin Staps. "But this
is exactly what makes it a 150% The Ocean album". Heliocentric" continues where the Proterozoic half of the Precambrian
album left off, with dense, epic songs and big orchestrations. Anthropocentric
is going to be a bit more straight forward rocking and technical, whilst
tapping the full dynamic range from acoustic pieces to eclectic heaviness
as well. The albums were mainly recorded in the mountainous isolation of La Chaux-de-Fonds,
Switzerland, the highest city of Europe. The band decided to record and
mix the album with the band's house sound engineer Julien Fehlmann: "We
wanted to be in control of every single detail, and we have an amazing
studio at hand here. Soundwise this is by far the best-sounding album
we have done to date". The lyrics and snippets of every song of the album can be previewed at: Kevin Quirion remarks on "The Concept of Our Extinction:" ORDER OF ENNEAD recently finished recording their next album, AN EXAMINATION
OF BEING with producer, Mark Lewis (TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA, ALL THAT REMAINS)
at Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford, FL. The album is due for release on
April 20th. Watch drummer Steve Asheim recording the drums for a track titled "This
Mortal Journey" HERE Check it out HERE
Furthermore Tomas Haake of the mighty MESHUGGAH has
some nice words to share about “Sons Of The System” –
check out the video above Check it out HERE
Guitarist Dylan Ruskin adds some insight into the musical process; The
album was definitely a huge accomplishment in the chronicling of the drill.
The musical dynamics and skill level of everyone in the band have improved
much more than the previous album. The songs are more technical and musically
diverse but are also well balanced and catchy, including several bass
breaks by Ivan Munguia and two songs written and recorded on guitar by
him, entitled Awaiting Eminent Destruction and Mercy To None. Stay tuned
for more. Quantum Catastrophe again features cover art by Par Olofsson (www.parolofsson.se).
The over the top cover art (which will be released shortly) perfectly
complements the nearly unbelievable musicianship present on the record.
Fans can get a taste of what the new material is like, as well as new
drummer Ron Casey, on the recently uploaded youtube video you see above. Vocalist Steve Rathjen explains the concept behind Quantum Catastrophe;
Universal decimation (black holes, galactic cosmic radiation), pandemic
disease and zombie re-awakenings - mankind is entering an age of mass
speculation as foreseen by numerous ancient cultures. Space to all humanity
still primarily remains a mystery even in our days of immense technological
advancements. We know this void is filled with infinite extremities which
could occur at any instant; easily decimating all habitations. We also
know our planet has fulfilled these mass extinctions time and again centuries
in the past. The question which remains, are we due for another apocalyptic
transition? Their first live document “Undead Indeed” was released last
Summer! Dan Gapen: "We just shot the new video for our next single "Absolute
Power" I would say it was fun but to be honest it was cold, windy
and rainy the day of the shoot and I froze my ass off. All I have to say
is this fucking video better come out sweet or Im kicking the directors
asshaha! I think when its done everyone will like how it turned out. Jason
& Emmitt from Vision4Films are pros at what they do, we cant say thank
you enough. KILL THE CLIENT formed in 2004 and has previously released two full-length
albums in addition to split releases with AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED and THOUSANDSWILLDIE.
The band has also appeared on For The Sick – A Tribute To Eyehategod
and 2008’s This Comp Kills Fascists. Audio samples taken from these
releases can be heard now via the band’s MySpace page: MySpace.com/KillTheClient KILL THE CLIENT founder / bassist James Delgado commented on the signing;
“Relapse has been the label of many of our heroes, influences and
friends for many, many years and it is a honor to now be counted within
their ranks. I feel that this band has a lot to add to the voice of the
socially and politically astute grinders and punks throughout the world
right now and we really appreciate the vote of confidence, musical freedom
and exposure Relapse has offered us with this signing. The new material
we are pulling together for this next release is on a new level and we
can’t wait to get it out! " AT THE GATES: THE FLAMES OF
THE END * At the Gates has long been revered as the blueprint for Swedish Death
Metal in particular and is a noted influence on all of the current metalcore
bands including Trivium, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage and Shadows Fall. One Night Live was filmed and recorded at the Rock Of Ages Festival in
Seebronn, Germany on July 31st, 2009 by the tried and tested line-up consisting
of Axel Rudi Pell, American vocalist Johnny Gioeli, keyboardist Ferdy
Doernberg, bassist Volker Krawczak and drummer Mike Terrana. The DVD was
produced by Axel Rudi Pell and sound engineer Charlie Bauerfeind, who
also mixed the eleven numbers. Line-Up: From the Vault (A Collection of works by Rick Springfield & Jeff
Silverman) consists of 13 tracks, originally recorded between 1986 and
1999, that have been digitally re-mastered by Jeff Silverman, giving the
audience an entirely new listening experience. Many of the tracks, such
as Dancin’ on the Edge of the World, Right Planet, Wrong World,
You Write the Book, Dream in Colour, and Religion of the Heart are previously
unreleased versions of the songs. Others such as Somewhere, Monkey, Love
Receiver and My Depression were later recorded for Springfield’s
albums. Springfield states that the songs on this CD are the result of
long hours slaving over a hot studio console in Jeff’s studio and
have never been released like this before. Even though many of the songs
on the CD were never released, agrees Silverman, the care, the hard work
and love that went into making every song the best we could make, was
always our main objective. This 2010 version comes with the worthy addition of a bonus track (a
new recording of Celebrate Youth) and a concert DVD, “Live in Rockford”
originally released in October 2006 in the USA only. Filmed live as part
of the HDNet Concert Series at the historic Coronado Theatre in Rockford,
IL, Rick showcases his talent and everlasting energy in this special release. To date, Rick Springfield has sold over 19 million records and has charted
a whopping 17 top 40 hits, including his #1 hit, Jessie’s Girl.
Having performed for millions of fans over the last three decades, and
showing no signs of slowing down, Rick continues to play 100 shows a year,
sharing his love of performing, unstoppable energy and his unique brand
of crowd interaction with thousands of fans each night. Rick literally
wades deep into the crowd at each show. His tour dates also include a
5-day fan oriented cruise. This year, the 3rd annual Rick Springfield
& Friends cruise is set to sail in November 2010. In 2005, Springfield
returned to daytime TV’s General Hospital as the character he originated
in the 80’s, Dr. Noah Drake as well as assuming an alternate character,
Aussie rocker Eli Love. More recently, Springfield appeared on a 4 episode
ARC on Showtime’s hit show Californication’s 3rd season. Jeff Silverman is a veteran producer, engineer, songwriter, accomplished
musician and singer. He started playing piano at the age of 5, then guitar
at 10 and made the decision to make music a lifelong career not long after.
After traveling around the US in club bands after high school, he arrived
in LA in 1976 and almost immediately met up with Rick Springfield for
his first US tour of the Wait for Night album. He has been a staff songwriter
at Motown/LA and has co-written with a number of artists including: Rick
Springfield, Michael Peterson and Tommy TuTone. Jeff has also mixed, mastered
and edited for artists such as: Charice, Boyz to Men, David Cassidy, George
Clinton and Prince and has performed live with Rick Springfield, Roger
Miller and Redbone. He currently operates Palette Studios his own Pro
Tools HD3 studio in Nashville, Tennessee where he writes, produces and
records. SAMPLES of "From The Vault"

AVANTASIA: NEW SONG TITLES
REVEALED

On April 3rd a new chapter in Avantasia's history will be written. And
what a chapter: Tobias won't just release another chapter in the history
of Avantasia, but he will release two new chapters of Avantasia at the
same time. And to quote the international music press that have had the
chance to listen to the albums in the studio Avantasia will return with
two real masterpieces. The albums will be called "The Wicked Symphony"
and "Angel Of Babylon", they will be available separately as
well as a 2-CD-boxset in a limited special edition. The list of guest
stars on the album reads like the who-is-who of the international Metal
scene: Klaus Meine (Scorpions), Eric Singer (KISS), Bruce Kulick (ex-KISS),
Michael Kiske (ex-Helloween), Jon Oliva (Savatage), Ripper Owens (ex-Judas
Priest), Bob Catley (Magnum), Jorn Lande (Masterplan), Jens Johansson
(Stratovarius, ex-Yngwie Malmsteen, ex-DIO) to name only a few.
Metal Hammer Germany has just been in the studio and this first comment
gives us an idea of what to expect: "Tobias calls and Metal's big
names appear. The double strike "The Wicked Symphony" and "Angel
Of Babylon" make this Tobias' greatest piece of work so far. Epic,
catchy and ambitious like never before!" - Marc Halupczuk

ORDER OF ENNEAD: TO FILM VIDEO
FOR "THE CONCEPT OF OUR EXTINCTION"
Floridian extreme metallers, ORDER OF ENNEAD will film a new music video
during the middle of this month for "The Concept of Our Existence,"
the ripping opening track off of their upcoming sophomore release, AN
EXAMINATION OF BEING. The video plans to match the great intensity and
large complexities of the song. Considering that ORDER OF ENNEAD is one
of the deepest and most thoughtful metal acts around, that is no easy
task. Perhaps that is why vocalist/guitarist, Kevin Quirion and his Largo,
FL-based company, Advanced Media will handle all directorial and production
duties for the shoot. Knowing the great care that Quirion takes with his
work, the video will undoubtedly let the viewer experience the song on
a much heightened level - the way it was meant to be experienced.
"Can't wait to get started on the filming of our first video. I've
been working on a very detailed treatment for the video this past week.
The idea of the song and video is man's struggle to understand his own
existence and the eventual acceptance of mortality. This is an on going
lyrical theme throughout the album. We're going capture this visually
and make it really special."

death metal can be. Quantum Catastrophe continues to push the band to
