Her name is considered a stamp of quality all over the world: for a long time now Doro has been much more than a purely German phenomenon. For over one and a half decades the rock vocalist from Düsseldorf, who lives in New York, has been celebrating one success after the other the world over, her reputation as a cosmopolitan musician is undisputed. Her new album Calling The Wild, which features numerous Rock stars as guest musicians, underlines her prestige among her colleagues overseas, after all names like Slash, Lemmy Kilmister, Al Pitrelli, Bob Kulick or Eric Singer do not only have connoisseurs of the scene click their tongues. They all felt honoured to contribute to Calling the Wild, thus enhancing an album that shows Doro from her most passionate side in every respect, be it powerful rock tracks, great anthems or enchanting ballads. In this context particularly Doro’s American friend and musical collaborator, Jimmy Harry, deserves a mention. The songwriter and producer from New York put down the basis for Doro’s new album, together with Jürgen Engler and his colleague Chris Lietz. Numerous songs on Calling The Wild were recorded at the Atom H studio in Düsseldorf by the former Die Krupps boss and current DKay.com mastermind Engler and in the States by Jimmy Harry. To ensure the album’s complex and versatile sound, Doro also worked with Andreas Bruhn (ex-Sisters Of Mercy) at his studio in Hamburg, with Rudy Kronenberger in Düsseldorf, and Gary Scruggs in Nashville. The result is an album that combines Doro’s typical trademarks with contemporary arrangements and insistent sounds.
Calling The Wild is Doro 2000, an energetic musical blend of traditional and contemporary music.
