OCTAGON Enjoying the recording of the previous release - REQUIEM - so much, BATHORY decided to quickly enter the studio to capture once again the intensive power of that album. In the end several tracks would find themselves to have been censored and taken off of the OCTAGON album - by the record company and the band themselves - proof enough of just how relentless and frenzied an attitude the band had picked up under the influence of the renewed interest in speed and death. In the end a recorded sound check rehearsal of an old KISS classic would end up filling the tracking list. OCTAGON - never stalking in the realms of Satanism nor the Viking age - didn’t seemed to do it for most BATHORY fans. It nevertheless has it’s moments. The aggressiveness and sheer intensity of such tracks as ”Immaculate Pinetreeroad 930” and ”Sociopath” alone is worth purchasing this release. This crystal clear yet aggressive production - together with it’s sister release REQUIEM - closed the fling with brutality of the 90’s for BATHORY. Recorded in February 1995. Released in May 1995.
