Jumping the repetitive satanic bag, BATHORY turned the wheel of time backwards and ended up in an age and place nearer to their roots and origin - Scandinavia prior to the arrival of Christianity. The icecold waves that begins this album - their fifth release - welcomes the listener by sending shivers down the spine of the unprepared. One continues to shudder throughout as the swords are drawn, the snow falls and the tale of an era bygone is unfolded BATHORY style. Every track majestically arranged and enriched with sounds effects to set the mod. Perfected here is the slower - more powerful style - which BATHORY began to explore already on the previous BLOOD FIRE DEATH release. HAMMERHEART - with it’s multitracked harmony backing vocals, acoustic breaks and sound effect laden atmosphere - still acts as the blue print for hundreds of band of the 90’s. Not only the beginning of the true Tundra metal but also considered it’s peak - BATHORY style. Both ”Shores in Flames” and ”One Rode To Asa Bay” still says it all. Hail ! Recorded in June 1989. Released in April 1990. Tracking list; Shores in Flames - Valhalla - Baptised in Fire and Ice - Father to Son - Song to Hall up high - Home of Once Brave - One Rode to Asa Bay
